Pirum recognised for Innovation in Securities Finance Technology at Global Custodian Leaders in Custody Awards 2026
London, 18 May 2026 – Pirum has received the Innovation in Securities Finance Technology award at the Global Custodian Leaders in Custody Awards 2026.
The award reflects a first-principles approach that has shaped Pirum's product development over the past two decades: designing and delivering technology that automates the critical workflows of securities finance, standardises how participants connect, and strengthens market resilience.
That approach took a decisive step forward in 2025. Pirum TradeConnect became operational in November 2025, with Citi among the first institutions to borrow securities through the platform, bringing pre-trade connectivity into a fully automated workflow for the first time.
Pirum’s ClearingConnect helped to bring the first centrally cleared SFTs in European market history in April by supporting Cboe Clear Europe, and extending that access by November to UCITS clients and Agent Lenders.
Together with the firm’s post-trade automation, collateral management, and corporate actions capabilities, these developments gave full operational reality to the Complete Connected Lifecycle: a single, modular operational framework spanning every stage of the securities finance trade.
The result is infrastructure built to support the market's own evolution rather than create dependency, connecting 150+ institutions across the ecosystem and processing $6.5 trillion daily with the consistency that critical financial infrastructure demands.
Ben Challice, CEO, said: “This recognition reflects the work of a team that has spent years building for the long term. The measure of innovation in this industry is what the market can do because you built it. We are proud of what that means for our clients and for the ecosystem.”
The award was presented at The Savoy, London. At the same ceremony, Ben Challice was named one of four Global Custodian Industry Legends – an individual honour recognising his 25-year contribution to securities finance and collateral management infrastructure across Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers, Nomura, JPMorgan Chase, and Pirum.
